Getting Back With Your Ex may not be wise too soon after a Break Up

A colleague called me last night with the sad news that his daughter's partner of five years had walked out on her. Not only was the daughter heartbroken my colleague was extremely upset and his wife was distraught because of her daughter's heartbreak.

So a single break up has affected a whole family.

We discussed the situation for a while and I told him that getting back with your ex too soon after a traumatic split is not a wise move and that once the initial shock has subsided a little his daughter needs to take a huge step back and give herself a chance to re evaluate her life.

For the good of our self esteem we all need assert ourselves, maintain our independence and to dictate life on our terms. This is not going to be easy, far from it but is something that must be done. This will bring back some clarity to our lives and make it easier to plan the future, whether it be to get back with an ex, seek a new partner or stay single and live it up for a while.
